Our Dedicated Team
Clare Ellam - Trainer
For the past 9 years Clare has run a yard specialising in the treatment of injured racehorses with a particular focus on tendon injuries. She has had great success such as “ Jadanli ” who in 2011 was an 11 year old with his second tendon injury on the same leg in two years. “Everyone was very sceptical on being able to get the horse sound again but in fact he went onto win a €54,000 race in Ireland in 2012”. Other successes include “Wellforth” winning at the Galway festival in the Guinness Blazers Chase and winning by 30 lengths at Uttoxeter and Bangor in more recent times. Clare has also been solely responsible for the comeback of “Mr Bishop” who ran and finished 3rd in a hurdle race at Carlisle in 2014 after more than 4 years off the track.
In addition to Clare’s racing experience, she has successfully diagnosed and treated many horses across the West Midlands using a combination of Thermal Imaging with other complementary therapies. She specialises in manipulation and massage for horses to reduce pain and increase mobility and movement. The treatments are non-invasive, drug free and are designed to work naturally with the horse's own body to encourage healing and reduce pain and discomfort.
Amy – Assistant Trainer / Work Rider
Amy has a background in flat racing, previously working as an apprentice jockey for Dave Evans and John Spearing. She rides for Clare at the current time and embraces Clare’s philosophy of ensuring that the horses come first. She has a genuine love for the horses we work with, is a very talented rider and looks after our horses to a very high standard. Amy is a great asset to our small dedicated team.
Daryl Green - Farrier
Daryl is an integral part of our team providing farrier services for the horses under our care. He is extremely dedicated to his craft and has visited our yard out of normal working hours, sometimes at 6am or 9pm to ensure that our horses stay in full work or can compete on race days
